My research interests are in the areas of insect biology and population dynamics, host-plant resistance, mechanisms and inheritance of resistance, exploitation of wild relatives of crops for insect resistance, effect of transgenic crops on the nontarget organisms, molecular assisted selection, and integrated pest management for sustainable crop production.
My research contributions are in the areas of insect bio-ecology and population dynamics, economic thresholds, natural plant products, host-plant resistance, transgenics and molecular assisted selection for insect resistance, effect of transgenic crops on non-target organisms, and use on insecticides, insect resistant varieties, and natural enemies for integrated pest management.
I have worked in close collaboration with scientists at several advanced research institutes [University of Wisconsin, Madison, Texas A&M University, College Station Tx, and Washington State University, Pullman, USA; QDPI, Toowoomba and CSIRO, Perth, Australia; NRI and RBG, UK; ICIPE, Kenya; VUB, Belgium; CIRAD, France; USAID, Pullman, USA; and ART, Zurich, Switzerland]. I have also undertaken collaborative research on host plant resistance and pest management with over 20 NARS in Asia and Africa.
