Dr. Thomas E. Hunt is a Professor of Entomology and Extension Entomology Specialist at the University of Nebraska Haskell Agricultural Laboratory, Concord, Nebraska. He joined the University of Nebraska Entomology Department faculty in 1999, and has a 50% research/50% extension appointment. His research focuses on corn, soybean, and alfalfa insect pest management. Research and extension projects fall in the general categories of integrated pest management and insect resistance management.
Dr. Hunt has published 73 refereed journal articles, 2 book chapters, 74 technical reports, and over 89 extension publications, including several electronic insect pest-sampling tools (e.g. spreadsheets, iPhone apps). He has authored/co-authored 75 invited presentations (17 international), over 161 other scientific presentations and over 183 extension presentations. As PI or Co-PI, he has been awarded over $5.6 million.
He is member and past chair of the USDA Multi-State Research Committees NC246 “Ecology and Management of Arthropods in Corn” and S-1055 “Biology, Impact, and Management of Soybean Insect Pests in Soybean Production Systems”.

Dr. Hunt regularly travels to Brazil, collaborates with EMBRAPA Cerrado researchers and University scientists from Brazil and Mexico, and hosts International visiting scholars. He is a member of several professional societies, including the Entomological Society of America (ESA), Sociedade Entomológica do Brasil (SEB), International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS), and Florida Entomological Society (FLAENT). He is currently Treasurer for the IAPPS.
