The Executive Committee of the Governing Board is pleased to welcome Dr. Rui Wang: Elsevier Journal Publisher
as our new Governing Board member .

Dr. Rui Wang is the current journal Publisher for Crop Protection, a publication from Elsevier. With a background bridging research and publishing, she holds a PhD in plant molecular biology and biochemistry from Northwest A&F University in China. Following her postdoctoral research on plant development at The Ohio State University, United States, Dr. Wang transitioned to the publishing industry in 2022. Before joining Elsevier, she served as a Senior Publishing Specialist for content acquisition at Frontiers.

Rui takes over from Maggie Yang as the previous Elsevier Journal Liaison Officer, to whom I would like to express my warmest thanks for her contribution to IAPPS.

The XIII International Epidemiology Workshop was held in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, between April 9 and 12, 2024. Professor Emerson Del Ponte, coordinator of Graduate Studies in Plant Pathology at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, acted as the chairman of the event, promoted by the International Society of Plant Pathology (ISPP) and supported by the Sociedade Brasileira de Fitopatologia (SBF). Initiated in 1963, this is the second time that the event takes place in Brazil.

On this occasion, more than 120 participants from all over the world (scientists from 24 countries) attended the workshop. Organizers developed an extensive program of presentations and events, including a keynote address and oral and poster presentations. The presence of Distinguished Professor Dr. Larry Madden honored the event, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the understanding of plant disease epidemiology.



The IAPPS Newsletter is published by the International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences and distributed in Crop Protection to members and other subscribers. Crop Protection, published by Elsevier, is the Official Journal of IAPPS. 

IAPPS Mission: to provide a global forum for the purpose of identifying, evaluating, integrating, and promoting plant protection concepts, technologies, and policies that are economically, environmentally, and socially acceptable. It seeks to provide a global umbrella for the plant protection sciences to facilitate and promote the application of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to the world’s crop and forest ecosystems.
